Chinese (8th grade)
2019~2020 Chinese中文 (8th grade)
Lesson Plan: Chinese 2D
Students in Chinese 2D class will continue to integrate technology into the daily classroom setting. Students will be taught how to recognize characters and the meaning behind the words as well as use of the Chinese phonetics based method. We will continue to build on last terms introduction to Chinese typing using Han Yu phonics. I will also guide students in the use of the free audacity audio recording program as a language practice tool for students. Traditional and modern Chinese songs also continue to play a big art in the process of word recognition.
The homework will be a review of in-class materials, and will be mainly audio exercises. There is a Chinese speaking policy in the classroom which allows me to gauge student improvement. I will also be recording student presentations and providing instant feedback. Additionally, mp3 links will be provided with audio clips that provide Chinese word pronunciations for the given assignment. These audio clips will be available throughout the year and I highly recommend students to review this material.
A short quiz will be given and corrected during each class period. The quizzes will build on the student’s knowledge from week to week.
In-class performances will be recorded, and put on the class blog for student’s to review from home.
We will be using the “Let’s Learn Chinese” and “Speak Mandarin in One Thousand Words” textbook’s, which will serve as an overall guide to the course. I have also selected and bought a set of reference books that will work well with the class.
