President Obama Sends Lunar New Year Greetings

  1. Dear Yamila

  3. 1. Speech from Obama & Kevin Rudd :
Obama tells us to observe Chinese customs. Mr.Rudd tells us in his slightly broken Chinese to try to keep a good relationship with China. I think it tells how these world leaders know keeping a good relationship with china is very important, due to widening debts. This tells how learning Chinese is and will be very important in the future if you become oriented in politics or business.

    2. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s Chinese pronunciation:
In my opinion, he said it surprisingly well, probably 95%

It can help you understand the characters in this poem.

  4. Dear 李若琳 Roselyn: I do see your big efforts on all assignments.
I do like your learning attitude very much, you are definatly our 最佳Super Student 楷模 No.1.(+10)

  5. Cai Lao Shi, I watched all the videos for the Lantern Festival Origin, and I especially like I like how Dongfang Shuo devised the complicated plan JUST to help someone! I think there’s a true lesson we can learn from this origin. I sent this to your e-mail at 2:10 PM.

  6. Hi 李若琳 : Fantastic! You are right. Kevin Rudd, he’s AUSTRALIAN. And you are the first person who answer all the questions (all the way to the buttom)completely.

you are Smart Reader No. 5.(+8)

  7. For all those saying “Kevin Rudd’s pronunciation is good for an AMERICAN,” I’d like to point out that he’s AUSTRALIAN, not American.
I think Obama is right, that Lunar New Year is a time for giving thanks(like Thanksgiving.
For Kevin Rudd, I think learning Chinese/Chinese culture is important because different ethnic mixes make the world what it is, and it amazes people to think that people that are other ethnics can speak their native language!

For the game, I think it looks fun, and it really helps you learn things like (a poem) fast.

  8. Kevin Rudd’s speech was very good for an American. His pronunciation was also excellent. I understood about 80% of his speech.

  9. Dear 張雅筑 Emily : Wonderful job!! 解釋很清楚- Can you list the words Kevin Rudd mispronounced?
    you are Smart Reader No.(+5)

  10. I think we should all learn Chinese and Chinese culture because even those who are not Chinese are starting to understand it better then some Chinese. We chinese are a small part of what makes our country what it is today- a melting pot of ethnic groups.

I understood 100% of what Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was saying. His pronunciation is very good for one that is not Chinese, and he only mispronounced a few words.

  11. I think we should all learn Chinese and Chinese culture because the president seems to care about it.

I under stood 50% and I think he is very good in Chinese.I think he did a good job

  12. Hi Christopher:We miss you from last week, hopefully, you get well now. You will get extra participate points and one prize too (3/7).

  13. Hi Lao Shi, Christopher enjoyed the activity as he recites the poem.  Fun and learning game.   Thanks as always,Amy Leung

  14. Dear Hua & Derek and Edward:I did find you make the comment in the other article, and the first column you made is correct one, you put " Derek and Edward" instead of Cai Lao Shi. Good catch.

  15. Good Job!! Edward, you are number 1 to reply this activity, you will receive extra participate points and you will receive one small prize on 3/7/09.

To Derek: Sorry for the time limitation, everybody will get turn and you should have very good chance next time. Please keep going and work hard as you always do.you will receive extra participate points and you will receive one small prize as well.
To Hua: Thank you for your swift response on this activity. And I like to mention: the first column box, it should type your own name , not “Cai Lao Shi”. That’s why your comment box title was address to “Cai Lao Shi says:”.
