Why Choose Chinese in 5th Grade?

Why Choose Chinese in 5th Grade? A Pathway to Success Through 8th Grade and Beyond!

Did you know that students who choose Chinese in 5th grade can continue their studies beyond 8th grade — even if local high schools only offer Spanish and French for credit?

For students who wish to continue Chinese without starting over with a new language, there are flexible online options such as CMASAS (https://www.cmasas.org/node/2501). Students can:

  • Enroll directly in the program to earn high school credit

  • Set their own schedule and learn at their own pace

  • Continue building Chinese language skills without interruption

Please note: I do not provide official school credit myself. Students must register with an accredited program like CMASAS to earn credit.

However, I am fully committed to supporting your child’s success — I can:

  • Help with understanding coursework

  • Answer questions

  • Provide guidance for preparing for the AP Chinese Exam

  • Support students pursuing the Seal of Biliteracy

I currently teach AP Chinese for an East Coast Chinese school and have experience helping students reach advanced levels. With the right motivation, your child can continue Chinese through middle school and into high school — and stand out with strong language and cultural skills.

Choosing Chinese in 5th grade opens a long-term path worth following!

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like to explore this option further. I’m here to help.
