Lesson Plan:

Class Structure:
In this class, students will enjoy learning Chinese through music, movement, and hands-on activities. They will listen to and sing traditional Chinese songs, take part in fun arts and crafts, and interact with Smart Board and PowerPoint activities designed especially for them. Students will also practice counting in Chinese and learn to follow simple classroom rules using Chinese words. To help with understanding, basic American Sign Language will be introduced and used to support Chinese vocabulary. Each class will include thirty minutes of full Chinese immersion, giving students the chance to hear and use the language in a natural way. In addition, students will prepare Chinese dances and songs to share at the Foreign Language Festival.

Homework:
There will be no homework for this class. All learning will take place in class, and materials will be posted Google sheets for families to review together outside of class if they wish.

Live Performances:
Google sheets will be kept and updated regularly with short videos of student performances. This way, families can enjoy watching what students are learning and celebrate their progress together.

Textbooks:
We will be using the Living Mandarin second grade textbook & Better Chinese which will serve as an overall guide to the course.  I have also selected a set of reference books that will work well with the class.
