Lesson Plan: Chinese 2A 

Class Structure: following current Ashbrook School Guideline

Many students in this class already have some foundational knowledge of Chinese. Unlike the lower grades, students at this level will be expected to practice forming sentences that express their own thoughts and ideas.

The course will begin with a review of Hanyu Pinyin to refine pronunciation and ensure accuracy in tones. Students will practice using phonetic input on the computer, allowing them to connect their spoken Chinese with character recognition and digital writing. Sentence formation will be emphasized, and students will be encouraged to apply new sentence structures in conversations that reflect real-life communication. 

Homework:
The homework for the class is the daily review of the class material and content which will be posted on Google classroom. 

Tests:
A short quiz will be given and corrected during each class period.  The quizzes are designed to ensure the student’s knowledge can be built up continuously from one week to the other.

 Class Review:
There will be a class blog updated on the daily basis throughout the whole school year where we will post the recording videos and photos of all in class performances and classroom activities for students and parents to review. 

Textbooks:
 “Ni Hao”, “Living Mandarin” and “Meizhou Chinese” will be used as the overall blueprint for the course.  In addition to these three textbooks, I have also acquired a set of reference books and incorporated the supplemental information into the teaching materials.
