End of 2024~2025 School Year
This year, our Chinese school’s end-of-year celebration featured a dumpling-making activity that combined both cultural learning and parent-child interaction. It turned out to be a relatively easy and meaningful event to organize.
Although store-bought dumpling wrappers are convenient, choosing the wrong brand can lead to unsatisfactory results. Since it had been a long time since I last bought them, I couldn’t remember which brand worked best. To be on the safe side, we had the students learn how to roll their own wrappers.
The week before the event, students practiced rolling dough in the classroom—flour was everywhere! Compared to other groups, the students at the Chinese school were more disciplined during practice, perhaps because we had two adults supervising. On the actual day of the event, the children showed great creativity while making their dumplings, and the atmosphere was lively yet orderly. Having parents present made a big difference and greatly eased the teachers’ anxiety.
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all the parents for your dedication and support throughout the year. Whether attending in person or online, you’ve braved all kinds of weather to bring your children to class. Together, we’ve created a warm, joyful, and fulfilling learning journey!
