Information Sharing: Online Chinese Credit Program & Seal of Biliteracy
Seal of Biliteracy Information
Students may qualify for both:
- the State Seal of Biliteracy
- the Global Seal of Biliteracy
According to parents, the process is relatively simple. Families can contact the staff member at their high school who coordinates the Seal of Biliteracy testing. Schools often arrange testing for students in many different languages at the same time.

Parent & Student Feedback
Overall, the family felt it was a positive experience.

- Good communication from the school
- Flexible pacing
- Students can begin the program at different times of the year

- Three projects per course
The student felt the workload could easily be adjusted depending on how much time was available during different seasons, especially during volleyball season.
The program also allowed students to:
- keep Chinese in their schedule
- take additional classes at their local high school
- have a study hall or off-block during busy sports seasons
Program Length & Cost
- Each semester lasts approximately 6 months
- Students may work at their own pace within that timeframe
- Approximate cost: $1,750 per year
- Total for two years: about $3,500
Final Thoughts from the Family
Although the student performed well academically in the program, the family felt that language improvement was somewhat limited compared to learning with a live teacher.
They shared that:
“Having a live class and teacher is always better,”
but also said they would still consider the program again if flexibility was the priority.
Every student and family may have different needs, schedules, and learning styles, so this may be a helpful option for some families to explore.
