Lesson Plan : Chinese 1A

Class Structure: following current Ashbrook School Guideline

This class will provide students with a foundation in Chinese pronunciation, everyday communication skills, sentence formation, and recognition of Chinese characters and vocabulary.

The class will begin with an introduction to Hanyu Pinyin and basic pronunciation. Students will gradually develop sentence-building skills through phonetic input and Chinese typing on the computer. Traditional and modern Chinese songs will continue to play an important role in developing listening skills, pronunciation, vocabulary recognition, and cultural understanding.

Hands-on cultural experiences will also be an important part of the course. Students will have opportunities to explore Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, origami (paper folding), and other traditional and creative cultural activities.

Homework:

Homework will focus on the daily review and practice of class materials. Lesson content, review materials, videos, and assignments will be posted on Google Classroom for students to review and complete as needed.

Tests:

A short quiz or review activity may be given during each class period. These quizzes are designed to reinforce learning and help students build their Chinese language skills continuously from one week to the next.

 Class Review:

There will be Google Classroom updated on the daily basis throughout the whole school year where we will post the recording videos and photos of all in class performances and classroom activities for students and parent to review.

 Textbooks:

“Ni Hao”, “Let’s Learn Chinese” and “Speak Mandarin in One Thousand Words” will be used as the overall blueprint for the course.  In addition to these three textbooks, I have also acquired a set of reference books and incorporated the supplemental information into the teaching materials.
