第五週

我們目前為止不但每週每位小朋友都有來上課，連交功課率也是100%！謝謝您們。這真的很不簡單。
We have full attendance for the past four weeks.  Everyone also handed in their homework on time.  Thank you.
這星期六有玩具環保回收活動。請大家花一點時間，把家裏不玩又尚新的玩具捐出來。
This week, the school wants your unwanted toys for donation!  Please help.
這星期六還有家長人文課/素食日。有興趣的家長，上課時間請到學校餐廳。
Also, there is parent’s education class in the cafeteria this Saturday.
上個星期六有我們的第一次小考，習題全部由作業上出。考試時, 唯一的提示是我在教室裡貼了第一課的生字。大部分的小朋友都還不錯。有85分以上的小朋友，我有把分數寫上。這星期第一節的寫作時間我會要求小朋友訂正錯誤來換貼紙，沒有改完的小朋友，請家長在家裡幫忙。我不想小朋友失去下課時間。
Last week we had our first quiz.  All the questions were from the homework.  The students were not helped except I placed all the new words from Lesson 1 on the board.  I only give grade to students who scored 85% or higher.  During our writing practice this Saturday morning, I will ask all the students to correct their mistakes.  If it’s not completed, please assist your kids at home as I don’t want them to loss their recesses.

說到下課時間，我們班居然有4、5位學生會主動跟我要他們的寫作本 – writing folder，下課時間不下課，留在班上寫來贏貼紙!  有一、兩位小朋友已經把生字單寫到第九課。這真是我意想不到，讓我高興的意外！
We have four, five kids who opted to stay in the class during recesses to progress on their writing folder!  This is a nice surprise.  Two students have reached Lesson 9.  This is totally expected as all they earn is a sticker for filling a page.
 
最後，謝謝您們的合作，作業簿我幾乎都收回來了。生字簿還差5本，請大家找一找。
Finally, thank so much for your cooperation.  I got most of the homework back.  However, I am still missing 5 flash cards.  Please bring them this Saturday.  Thank you.

第四週

時間過的好快，我們已經進入第4週了。這個星期六有緊急疏散演習，如果您們剛好在學校，請您們按照老師或學校義工的指示，跟大家到指定的地方。
Time flies and we are already at Week 4. This Saturday, there is going to be an emergency drill. If you happen to be at school, please follow teacher’s or volunteers’ direction.

這星期的第一課小考請家長跟小朋友都不用太緊張。習題會由作業為主。小朋友的功課都做的很好，謝謝您們的督促與指導。
We are going to have our first quiz. It’s going to be based on the homework. So far, most kids have done an excellent job! Thank you for your support.

這幾天受到美洲華語主編的薰陶，再加上對班上的小朋友有比較深的認識，我想來做以下的調適。
Past few days I went for teacher’s training and plus now I get to know the students better, I am going to do the following adjustment.

  • 請把作業本(全部)及字卡帶囘來。我再安排義工媽媽來教室幫我分類。Please bring back all the homework booklet as well as the flash cards. I will give out as the lesson progresses.
  • CDs:, 如果可以忍受的話，可以放在車上聽。 May I suggest listening to the CDs in the car if you can stand it?…
  • 這星期起會安排座位。 I am going to have a seating plan going forward.

當家長的，我們有一個難題是不知道自己小朋友在班上的程度。我想了想，我將邀請家長在學校改功課。每一個家庭將有一次的機會(要放棄這個機會很okay) 在教室幫我改作業，讓家長們有機會看到其他學生的努力和程度。
One of the toughest part as parents is that we don’t know how well our kids are doing in the class. I thought about it and decided that I am going to give each family one chance to grade the homework at school. This way, you will see the effort and the levels of other students.

第三週

首先，謝謝您們上星期六撥空來參加親師座談會。 今年的課本很棒吧！希望你們也喜歡。 我發現到了中、高年級，小朋友的程度差別會越來越大。如果能把寫功課當成習慣，對爸爸媽媽，或是小朋友都有好處。我跟自己的小朋友也在努力中喔!  
First of all, thanks very much for attending last weeks’ meeting.  I hope you like this year’s text book.  If you can make writing homework into a habit, it’s the best for everyone.  I myself is also working on it!

因為程度和興趣的差別，我今年加了一個寫作本 – Writing Folder 給小朋友。當他們在等其他小朋友的時候就可以拿起來寫，寫完一張可以換貼紙。
There is a writing folder this year, for students who complete task ahead of other people.
非常謝謝大家對包容班的支持。王淑婷女士（蕭睿媽媽）將是我們的班媽媽。再來，閲讀義工也馬上填滿了。每個星期第一節課將是我們的閲讀和寫作時間。有人細心指導，我們的小朋友真幸福。

這星期六的親師座談會請大家踴躍參加，時間為10:30AM – 11:10AM。有時間請大家來當閲讀義工，輔導我們的小朋友。我們還需要班爸爸或媽媽。
Please come for the parents teacher meeting this Saturday at 10:30AM to 11:10AM.  I am still looking for reading volunteers as well as the room parent.

第一週

首先，關於字典一事。今年學校有可能提供租用服務，所以請沒有字典的家庭先不用擔心。我們大概到11月份才會開始教查字典。
This year, the school *might* provide Chinese dictionary rental services.  Therefore, don’t worry if you don’t already have one at home.  Most likely we won’t start using it until November.

我們在 Room 307 上課。第一天請把小朋友帶到體育場集合，舉行開學典禮。上午10點15分在餐廳有行政與全校家長座談。
We will be in classroom 307.  On the first day, please bring your child to the school gym at 9AM and plan to stay for School Staff & Parents meeting at 10:15AM.

過敏 – Allergies

班上有幾位小朋友對花生及堅果類的食品有嚴重過敏。請家長在準備點心時特別小心。在此也希望家長提醒小朋友不要隨意分享點心。
There are several kids in the class with severe peanuts and tree nuts allergies.  Please be mindful when preparing snacks for your child to bring to school.  Also, please ask your child not to share snacks as a precautionary measure.  Thank you.
