畫 画 draw; picture; painting; (huà ) 【文字演變及各字體】
古人總結楷書的基本筆畫和這些筆畫的寫法有八種：側（點）、勒（橫）、努（直）、趯（鈎）、策（仰橫）、掠（長撇）、啄（短撇）、磔（捺）。這八種筆畫和筆法剛好可以用「永」字來集中表達，人稱「永字八法」。
永字八法
古人認為「永」字不但可以涵蓋楷書的所有筆法，而且「永」字從第一筆的起構到最後一筆的收結，筆畫與筆畫之間都隱含一條互相關聯呼應的軌跡，也就是點畫之間含著形斷意不斷的筆勢，使全字脈絡雖隱曲而暢通。所有點畫的迎來送往、聚散開合都彼此關情，凝神於一處。所以，傳說有很多練書法的人，幾乎每天都要寫幾十遍「永」字。
