上星期的期末考小朋友表現的還不錯喔! 我們2月4日發上學期成績單。
As expected, many students did well in the final exam last week.  We will be given out report cards on February 4th.

裡面最新的文章是1月28日的新春活動！請大家踴躍參加。當天早上9點10分我會帶小朋友從教室到體育舘。看完表演後，我被分在套圈圈的攤子。那天會有很多攤位，請小朋友自己跟朋友到處去玩。11點50分後可以把小朋友接回家。帶小朋友回家之前，請您來套圈圈的攤位跟我說一下，我會比較安心。請小朋友還是要穿制服來喔!
On Tzu Chi school’s website, you will find the latest news on Chinese New Year Celebration that will be held on January 28.  At 9:10am in the morning, I will bring the kids from the classroom to the gym.  We will watch some shows before free activities.  I myself has been assigned to “ring toss” booth.  The kids will by their own with their friends to go from booth to booth.  You can pick up your kids in the gym at 11:50am.  Before you go though, please come over to the “ring toss” station and let me know that the kid is safe with you.  Please remind your kid to wear uniform on that day.  =) Join us if you can!

這星期六我們將有第一學期的期末考。範圍是第一課到第五課。幫小朋友復習的時候，請把重點放在第四課和第五課。  課本後面從第119頁開始有生字、生詞中英譯對照表，大家可以多加利用！

We will have the final exam for the first semester this coming Saturday.  It will cover Lesson 1 through Lesson 5, with focus on Lesson 4 & 5.  Please utilize the content at the back of the book, especially page 119 and on.
上星期六的第五課小考，大部分小朋友都很好。小朋友也都有交功課，謝謝您們的督促。第一節寫作組方面有大概三分之一的小朋友沒有把生詞找到、圈完。在此我附上單子(寫作組Week13Lesson6)請您們幫小朋友在課文和故事裡把第六課的生詞找出來。謝謝！
Last Saturday we had our Lesson 5 Quiz.  Most students did well, but do please to go over the test with your children.  About 1/3 of the students did not have time during the class to find all the new phrases in Lesson 6‘s main text and story, please spare some time to assist your child.  Thank you.
 
春節過後我們會再教小朋友查字典。
After Chinese New Year, we will teach the kids to use the dictionaries.

在改功課時，我發現很多小朋友沒有交感恩節的作文。在班上我跟小朋友說那是“挑戰”，有交的小朋友可以多一張貼紙。這次我改變一下戰略，我把“我的Winter break” 和 “我的New Year Resolution” 兩篇作文跟功課釘在一起。頁面上有一些用詞是我們上課時有學到的，請小朋友試試看，但不是每一個詞語都要用到。我刻意找一些小朋友比較有意見的題目，希望他們寫起來不會那麽困難。不會寫的字，用英文都沒關係。我希望小朋友能盡量表達他們的想法。謝謝！
I realized a lot of students did not turn in “Thanksgiving” essay.  I told the kids it’s a challenge and anyone who turns it in would get a sticker.  This time, I am attaching two essays – “My Winter break” and “My New Year’s Resolution” as part of homework.  There are some phrases on the page that we taught and I would like the kids to try, but they don’t have to use every phrases.  I intentionally picked topics that the students would have opinion of.  For the words they don’t know, they can even write in English, but I like them to try to express their ideas fully.
上個星期第四次小考，小朋友的表現跟以往一樣，大致上都很好。謝謝您們的努力。

接下來我們有三個星期不用上課，希望大家有一個溫馨、愉快的假期。一月七日再見！
We will have three weeks of no Chinese school.  I hope you have a good holiday and see you in January 7th.

希望大家都渡過了一個美好的感恩節。再兩個星期的中文課，我們又要放三個星期的假期。小朋友一定很期待！ 這兩個星期我會把第五課教完。讓大家在假日時，有機會復習。
I hoped everyone had a good vacation.  With two more weeks of Chinese schools, we will have a break for another three weeks!  The kids must be looking forward to the Christmas holidays.  I am going to finish Lesson 5 before the holidays, so you can review the lessons with them.
請跟小朋友說一聲，星期六我們有第四課小考。考題還是會由作業本出。
Please tell the kids that we are going to have a quiz for Lesson 4 this coming Saturday.  As always, questions will be from the homework.
最後，這星期下課時請到211教室接小孩。我們第四節有茶道課。謝謝！
Finally this Saturday, please come to Room 211 to pick up your kids after school.  We will have “art of tea / tea ceremony” in the last period.  Thank you.

上個星期的期中考，小朋友大部分表現的都很不錯。期中考的結果跟第二課的考試差不多。如果您對小孩子在上課的情況有疑問， 請不用客氣來跟我溝通。
Most kids did well in last week’s exam.  The result is similar to our quiz for Lesson 2.  If you have any questions regarding your kid’s progress, please feel free to contact me.

我們下兩個星期都不用上課，一直到12月3日才有課，所以我會發兩週的功課。我希望小朋友們都已經養成寫中文功課的(好)習慣。我們的教材從第四課開始有些字就沒有拼音或注音了，目的是要讓小朋友認中文字。有時候在家裡可以用課文來考考自己的小朋友。
We won’t have classes for the next two weeks.  Class will resume on December 3rd.  I will hand out two weeks worth of homework this week.  I hope that your child has formed a (good) habit of writing Chinese homework.  From Lesson Four and on, pin yin and zhu yin have been completely eliminated from some words.  It is to force kids to recognize Chinese characters.  This is a good way to gauge how much your kid knows as compared to what he/she supposes to know.
這個星期六在餐廳有素食日的活動。希望參加的家長及小朋友們，要記得帶餐具。
This Saturday is the Vegetarian Day.  Free vegetarian lunch will be served in the cafeteria.  If you are participating, please bring your own bowl and utensil.
最後，這星期第四節是我們最後的扯鈴課。希望小朋友喜歡！
Finally, this week is our last Chinese Yo-Yo class.  I hope the kids will enjoy it.

我們的字卡要發到第四課嘍! 請小朋友好好的運用。有一副字卡後面有筆順可以作參考。每一課有兩副，可以用來玩 memory game。第四課的說故事是有關孫悟空的故事。在家裡可以跟小朋友談談更多孫悟空的傳説喔!
We will be giving out flash cards for lesson 4 this week.  One set has stroke order in the back.  Each lesson has two sets so you can use it to play memory game.  Lesson 4’s story is about Sun Wukong.  You can read more stories about this Chinese mythological figure to your kids.

首先，因為有一次停課，我們期中考延後一週，改成下星期六11月5日。考試範圍為第一課到第三課。
First of all, due to one cancellation of class, I have decided to delay our midterm for a week.  It’s going to be on November 5 and it will cover Lesson 1 to Lesson 3.
再來，上星期的第二課小考，小朋友表現的很好。謝謝您們在家的指導！
Secondly, most of the kids did well in last week’s quiz.  Thank you for the guidance at home.

這星期很接近萬聖節，小朋友來上課時可以帶他們的costume來換。學校希望小朋友還是穿制服來上學。謝謝您的合作！在班上我最後一節會發gummy bears…
This week’s lesson is close to Halloween.  The students can bring their costume to change if they wish.  However, the school prefers if everyone still wears uniform to school.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.  I will give out gummy bears at the end of the class.

這星期我把學生的字卡大致都準備好了。有幾個家庭很積極，在我要回字卡前已經把它整理好了。謝謝！  明天請帶第一課到第三課的字卡。

This week I have prepared the flash cards.  There are some families that have organized the cards before I asked to be returned.  Thank you.  Tomorrow, please bring flash cards for Lesson 1 to Lesson 3.

收字卡當天太匆促，忘了登記小朋友的名字。雖然有很多小朋友字卡上有寫名字，很不好意思，現在有一點誤差，如果字卡在小朋友身上，請麻煩通知我一下。我只記得大衛，安貝，還有廷翰的家裡已經幫他們準備好了。

I have to apologize for not writing down the names of students who returned the flash cards.  If you have the flash cards, please let me know as I am short of some flash cards.  Thank you.

我們星期六將慶祝10月份生同學的生日，在班上會發小棒棒糖。通常吃棒棒糖的時候是班上最安靜的時候。。。

We are going to have our first monthly birthday celebration tomorrow.  Each student will get a lollipop.  I hope it’s okay with you.

這星期，請給小朋友寫第二課第三週 (Lesson2Week3) 的作業。不好意思，請自行影印。
Please print out and give your child Lesson 2, Week 3’s (Lesson2Week3) homework.
如果想加强小朋友的生字，以下是我放在他們的寫作本的單子。有些小朋友已經寫了很多，有些小朋友還沒有任何進展。如果他們寫滿一頁，請他們把單子帶來學校我會給他們貼紙。有些單子只有一、兩個字，請小朋友填上他們想練習的字，把整頁寫滿。
If you want to improve your child’s Chinese vocabulary, you can print out the following files. They are already in the writing folder. Some kids have written many pages. However, some kids have not made any progress. If they filled out a page, you can ask them to bring it to school and I will reward them with a sticker. Some pages only have one or two words. Please ask your child to fill up the page with other words they would like to practice.

In cases of inclement weather, Tzu Chi Academy’s policy is typically to follow Bellevue Public School closures. This Friday, however, Bellevue School District is already scheduled no school to have professional development. A significant storm with possible power outages is predicted for Thursday night.

Since we cannot follow our regular closure system, you will receive an email Saturday morning between 5:30 ~ 6:00 AM if classes are to be cancelled. The school blog website will also make announcement around the same timeframe. http://tzuchiacademyseattle.blogspot.com/

If classes will not be cancelled, there will not be a closure communication.

Buy some extra batteries or charge up your power banks just in case!
