    3. The meaning of “ya sui quian” is to give out red envelopes. The reason why we eat nian gao is because it means “to grow taller next year”. Some auspicious words would be things like “fa cai” which means fortune or “xi wang” which means wish.
    3. (Video) The guy likes eating medicine because it cures anything, so he goes to the doctor and asks what will make him smarter. The doctor tells him studying will make him smarter, but the boy insists on getting medicine. The doctor gives him medicine and the boy takes it. However, he realizes he has not become any smarter. He goes back to the doctor and asks why the doctor has given him sugar water instead of medicine, and the doctor says “Ahh, you have gotten smarter”
    4. This video talks about how “ma” the character evolved from the picture of the horse. The character of horse incorporates its eye, mane, legs and tail. Horses in different formations and amounts mean different things in Chinese.
    5. This video is about how the fish character came to be. At first there was the two eyes, the wiskers, the fins, the head and the tail. The eyes later merged together into a tian shape with the head becoming “jia” and the tail as the four dots under the tian. It also talk about different characters that have “yu” as the radical.

    Something about how the horse was tamed… except the horse tricked the guy…
    The character for riding horse was too wide before, so they dropped the “ren” from it.
    “Why does “ma” with two kous exist?” It’s actually not a mouth, it’s a net…
    …That guy is still being tricked by the horse… he has devised a new plan… use a bigger carrot…This way he could catch the horse… perhaps the character with the net on the horse means a tamed or captured horse. Also shows a pictograph transformation of the character “ma”.
    7. Guy claims Chinese is easy to learn… HA. Well, this movie is about 5 characters that have been incorporated into this guys face. “kou” means mouth, “er” ear, “zi” nose, or self, “mu” means eye, “mei” which means eyebrow.

    The body also has characters which look like body parts. “gu”= bone, “xin” = heart, “wei”= stomach, “shou”= hand. “zu”= foot.
