漢字的故事 : 自
「自」字本是人類鼻子的象形，但人自我介紹時總會指指自己鼻子，故「自」字漸漸有「自己」的意思，並衍生出「獨立」的意思。至於原來的「鼻子」的意思，則由「鼻」字取代。
Long time ago, 自 was the picture of a human nose, however, people always like to point at their nose when they introduce themselves, so 自 gradually means 'the self', then derives the meaning of 'independence'. The original meaning of 'nose' was replaced by 鼻.
漢字的故事 : 己 The Story of Chinese Character :己
己 depicts a twisted stem of a tree, it looks like a curling human body, he holds his body tightly in order to protect himself, but the meaning of twist or curling is then replaced by 卷, and now 己 solely means oneself. On the other hand, when a tree is getting old, its stem twists, 己 is used to describe the sixth stage of the plant's growth, thus becomes the sixth of TianGan.
On the other hand, the curl tree trunk represents the oldness of the tree, while an old tree has gone through so many things, it is experienced and can be seen as a record of the past days. Therefore, 己 also has the meaning of record or remembering something, but such meaning has been replaced by 記 and 紀.

The Story of Chinese Character : 上
上 depicts the horizon with a point written above it, clearly indicate something situated on the top, thus deriving the meaning of going forward.
「上」字是地平線的象形，地平線之上有一點，明白指出「上」的位置，並因此而衍生出向前走的意思。
The Story of Chinese Character : 下
下 depicts the horizon with a point written below it, clearly indicate something situated at the bottom, thus deriving the meaning of moving backward.
「下」字是地平線的象形，地平線之下有一點，明白指出「下」的位置，並因此而衍生出往後退的意思。
The Story of Chinese Character : 卡
卡 was formed by 上 and 下, represents something get stuck in between, also derives the meaning of stop. On the other hand, since the pronunciation of 卡 is similar to English word 'card', 卡
「卡」字由「上」字和「下」字組成，指某些東西給楔在其間，亦有停止的意思。另一方面，由於「卡」字的發音跟英文的 card 近似，故亦有硬紙片之意。
The Story of Chinese Character : 左
左 depicts a hand with 工(a tool) next to it. Ancient Chinese thought that right hand is more important among two hands since it was stronger and more agile, while left hand was less important and was seen as an assistant of the right hand. Tool is an assistant of human beings so 工 is added to represent it is our left hand or the left.
「左」字是一隻手的象形，而「工」字(工具)在其旁。古代中國人認為兩手中以右手為主，因其較靈活強壯，而視左手為右手之輔佐。因工具是人力的輔佐，故在手旁加上「工」字，以示左手或左邊。
The Story of Chinese Character : 右
右 depicts a hand with 口(a mouth) next to it. Since right hand is stronger and more agile among two hands , we use it to do most of our works while the production of food is the most important, so 囗 is added to represent it is our right hand or the right.
「右」字是一隻手的象形，而「口」字(嘴巴)在其旁。兩手中，右手比較強壯和靈活，故我們用右手做大部工作，且工作中尤以食物生產最重要，於是我們便在手的旁邊加一「口」字以代表右手或右邊。
On the other hand, 又 is the origin of 右. In the past, 又 meant right hand, but after 右 had been invented, 又 solely meant also. Now 右 and 又 share the same pronunciation, it can be seen as an evidence of such evolution.
此外，「右」字本自「又」字。昔日，「又」字亦有右手的意思，但在發明「右」字後，「又」字單指而且。現在，「右」字和「又」字的發音仍完全相同，可說是是項演變的有力証據。

中國最早的文字——甲骨文

金文是铸刻在青铜器的钟或鼎上的一种文字。金文起于商代，盛行于周代，是由甲骨文的基础上发展起来的文字。因铸刻于钟鼎之上，有时也称为钟鼎文。据统计，金文约有三千零五字，其中可知有一千八百零四字，较甲骨文略多。金文上承甲骨文，下启秦代小篆，流传书迹多刻于钟鼎之上，所以大体较甲骨文更能保存书写原迹，具有古朴之风格。金文在笔法、结字、章法上都为书法的进一步发展做出了贡献。

無奈朝來寒雨晚來風。
胭脂淚，相留醉，幾時重？
自是人生長恨水長東。
無言獨上西樓，月如鉤，
寂寞梧桐深院鎖清秋。
剪不斷，理還亂，是離愁。
別是一番滋味在心頭。
此調原為唐教坊曲﹐又名《相見歡》﹑《秋夜月》﹑《上西樓》。三十六字﹐上片平韻﹐下片兩仄韻兩平韻。謝﹕凋謝。胭脂淚﹕指女子的眼淚。女子臉上搽有胭脂淚水流經臉頰時沾上胭脂的紅色﹐故云。幾時重﹕何時再度相會。
此詞將人生失意的無限悵恨寄寓在對暮春殘景的描繪中﹐是即景抒情的典范之作。起句“ 林花謝了春紅 ”﹐即托出作者的傷春惜花之情﹔而續以“太匆匆”﹐則使這種傷春惜花之情得以強化。狼藉殘紅﹐春去匆匆﹔而作者的生命之春也早已匆匆而去﹐只留下傷殘的春心和破碎的春夢。因此﹐“太匆匆”的感慨﹐固然是為林花凋謝之速而發﹐但其中不也糅合了人生苦短﹑來日無多的喟嘆﹐包蘊了作者對生命流程的理性思考﹖“無奈朝來寒雨晚來風”一句點出林花匆匆謝去的原因是風雨侵龔﹐而作者生命之春的早逝不也是因為過多地櫛風沐雨﹖所以﹐此句同樣既是嘆花﹐亦是自嘆。“無奈”云云﹐充滿不甘聽憑外力摧殘而又自恨無力改變生態環境的感愴。換頭“胭脂淚”三句﹐轉以擬人化的筆墨﹐表現作者與林花之間的依依惜別之情。這裡﹐一邊是生逢末世﹐運交華蓋的失意人﹐一邊是盛時不再﹑紅消香斷的解語花﹐二者恍然相對﹐不勝繾綣。“胭脂淚”﹐遙按上片“林花謝了春紅”句﹐是從杜甫《曲江對雨》詩“林花著雨胭脂濕”變化而來。林花為風侵欺﹐紅^叟鮫肖（左應加魚旁）﹐狀如胭脂。“胭脂淚”者﹐此之謂也。但花本無淚﹐實際上是慣于“以我觀物”的作者移情于彼﹐使之人格化 ── 作者身歷世變﹐泣血無淚﹐不亦色若胭脂﹖“相留醉”﹐一作“留人醉”﹐花固憐人﹐人亦惜花﹔淚眼相嚮之際﹐究竟是人留花抑或花留人﹐已惝恍難分。著一“醉”字﹐寫出彼此如醉如痴﹑眷變難舍的情態﹐極為傳神﹐而“幾時重”則吁出了人與花共同的希冀和自知希冀無法實現的悵惘與迷茫。 結句“自是人生長恨水長東”﹐ 一氣呵成益見悲慨。“人生長恨”似乎不僅僅是抒寫一已的失意情懷﹐而涵蓋了整個人類所共有的生命的缺憾﹐是一種融匯和濃縮了無數痛苦的人生體驗的浩嘆。
