ㄢㄣㄤㄥㄦ,小木偶,和尋隱者不遇

 

時間似乎過得特別快. 但小朋友們除了正常的調皮嘻戲外, 我把該給小朋友的新舊知識都成功的丟出去了, 接受度也很不錯. 從小朋友們的正面反應我知道效果慢慢出來了! ,還很長遠, 加油!!

第一堂課似乎有點零散, 因小朋友都遲到, 直到約兩點我的道具小木偶登場跟全場小朋友一一問候,把小朋友從小木偶的塗畫中跳出來, 把他們的閒聊的心情收起來準備學習. 這個可愛的小木偶很成功的達成任務! 今天的重點是把上週的回家作業 ㄢㄣㄤㄥㄦ正式教授讀音和相關拼音. 把數字一到十復習後, 巧妙的出來變成一個人. 讀唐詩尋隱者不遇 . 也讀小木偶音標首冊第3, 唱歌和讀地球儀. 我借用地理位置的轉移來告訴小朋友我的遠行, 其實孩子們泰半都已從父母口中得知並不驚訝, 這是心理建設的正面效果, 且他們反而開心的告訴同伴們他們的父母親來自何國, 或他們去過哪些國家! 這一世代的孩子們真的不一樣, 也同時顯示了澳洲的多元民族性!

今天是我的最後一堂課了, 雖提早了一週與大家分別, 心裡有許多不捨, 為了孩子們著想, 這其實是個不錯的安排, 讓楊老師正式接最後一堂課與孩子們全面性的接觸和體驗孩子們的獨特性, 小朋友在下學期有所期待, 課程將銜接的更順利.

衷心感謝白校長和各位家長們的小小惜別會,美味的蛋糕和禮物. 我自認害羞, 不喜歡當派對主角. 可是面對熱情的大家, 我真的覺的很幸福. 本該是我向各位道謝才是, 為了能夠站在台上給小朋友們授業, 我想辦法充實自己和改進教學方法, 愈教愈覺自己的不足,愈覺得一週3小時實在不夠用, 重點是我的流失的中文也回來了, 不再說英文中文,(雖然英文也掉了不少,但我自知沒十全十美的事兒!) 跟女兒的中文愈說愈多, 這都是教中文意想不到的收穫, 還學會了拼音打字! 
先生經常笑我, 這麼辛苦寫有人會看嗎? 我告訴他, 不管有幾個人看, 這是我工作的日誌, 我自己健忘,但有這部落格我可以回頭看, 或找資料.^^

工作要告一段落了, 不知我在曼谷的未來會有什麼新生活等著我, 學泰語? 學作泰國菜? 但我會繼續充實自己不再讓自己的中文喪失! 看到好的東西也會放進部落格方便自己和分想給有興趣的家長和小朋友.

鐘,尋寶,憫農詩

I was losing
my voice last Sat because of the cold; therefore I altered the class into quieter
activities like writing, craft and some videos in Chinese.  As well I planned a Treasure Hunt for kids to
reinforce the Bopomo we learnt in class. 
I wanted them to tick off the Bopomo on their paper once they found on
the trail, and the Bopomo sequence was the direction to go.  I had a couple of parent helpers leading kids
for me, only I didn’t predict that our lovely mums didn’t quite know the Bopomo
well enough to keep the game flowing..^^ 
And the kids of course, loved  the
chance to run around in the hall.  Kids
had fun and got the treasure at the end. I asked them to paste the alphabets,
which prepared by Melissa earlier, on top of their paper again.  Also we talked about clock and the 12
numbers, and asked kids to draw clocks. Crystal drew a digital one! That was
funny.  Everyone was present only Ethan
was on holiday.

Today my
voice was back! (that means I could yell as loud as I wanted. ^^)  We had everyone there but Lester as he was
sick.  We had Ms Yang too, the new
teacher who is going to replace me upon my leave.  Ms Yang is also from Taiwan, and a mother of
two, about my age?  I guess.  She was lovely and patient with children.  Already I saw some kids hugging her today.  I think she’ll work well with kids next term.  To create chances for kids knowing her, I had
Ms Yang reading a couple of stories, and running the poetry reading section.  She walked around and chatting with the
children when they did drawing.  She didn’t
speak English to the kids at all, this was the best part!

I spent a
bit of time pushing the Bopomo pinyin today. 
Kids were doing great once I got their attention, but they distracted
each other quite easily.  This was hardiest
part of their learning as they need to recognize the individual alphabets, then
putting the sound together with different tones.  They were doing great considering they were
just learning Chinese for 6 months. Slowly they are going to be the little
experts in pinyin!

We reviewed
the clock and 12 numbers followed by a treasure hunt again.  I made 2 sets of 12 cards and stuck them on
the hall way.   This time I had kids in 2
teams and they just needed to collect their team shape cards on the way, and
brought them back to the class.  We
double checked the numbers together, and read the numbers again.  I was going to ask them to copy the 12 numbers
on paper again, but ran out of the time! Yes, time seems always flying faster
on Sat afternoon!  The treasures were all
from home and were mostly new, not even 2nd hand, so there shouldn’t
have the hygiene issue.  

Tomorrow is
Father’s Day, I taught the sentence, Daddy I love you,
爸爸我愛您; and had the related drawings for kids to colour. There was
a word search I designed for the topic, and it seemed too hard for kids.  It’s actually, in fact, very easy.  I had all the answers stood out amongst the
different signs.  We had this worksheet
on the last 10 mins of the day, and perhaps kids were all tired.  Please spend a bit of time sit down with your
child and go through with him/her again.  Enjoy the time together!  I love to see the result next Sat.

上週因感冒失聲, 所以課堂上較偏靜態, 寫字, 美勞, 和一些相關的漢字短片. 介紹時鐘和一至十二. 我讓孩子們畫時鐘, 尋寶遊戲,一點點拼音

經過一週,我的聲音好了, 大嗓門又回來了. 
今天我們來了位楊老師,下學期她即將代替我帶領孩子們一起學習中文. 
楊老師也來自台灣,2個孩子, 是慈濟精進班的義工老師, 也在另一中文學校代課.面對一群新的孩子她說有點緊張. 但她傾合力很夠, 和有些孩子們很快就親近起來.  謝謝她特地進來熟悉環境和孩子.這讓我想起了剛剛跟小朋友們初相識的时後.. 我也會緊張, 但孩子一一到達後就沒時間緊張了! 滿腦子都是孩子們的名字, 特徵, 喜好, 上課狀況回到家直到日誌寫完才可鬆懈. 備課的时後又想起他們! 一週復一週, 漸漸愛上了這群天真的孩子們. 沒想到會提早跟他們分別, 真不捨!

今天以尋寶遊戲引起學習動機,我們先複習了數字1~12, 漢字加阿拉伯數字. 再畫個鐘,後來尋寶的動作我讓孩子分組蒐集了12張數字卡片回教室和複習. 本想再讓他們抄寫一遍, 但時間不夠用作罷.  唱歌提神, 拍手集中精神, 今天也都用到了. 今天我把玩具搬出來後, 孩子們顯著分心了, 同時也提醒了自己為什麼好久沒用. 為了讓小朋友有機會認是新老師, 我讓楊老師讀了2個故事, 也請她帶讀經=詩的部分.今天讀的是'憫農詩'.

因為明天是父親節我準備3個簡單的句子, 對但孩子們真的太多, 就只教了, 爸爸  我愛您. 還有其拼音.  爸爸 ㄅㄚˋ ˙ㄅㄚ 孩子們都沒問題, 我愛您的拼音就有點太多.這也是3小時中最具有挑戰性的學習时刻!  我狠心地教完五個字, 孩子們的耐心已是極限! 加油孩子們, 一次再一次的學習, 你們就可掌握一切!!

我挑了一些父親節相關的圖案給孩子們塗鴨, 也設計了一張動動腦尋字圖給孩子們做評量. 可能是在下課前十分鐘才做, 孩子們也累了, 直喊難.  其實不難, 我把答案都明顯的分開放, 且沒設陷阱! 但也可能是第一次做, 所以不是很懂遊戲規則.  希望爸媽有時間坐下來陪孩子們試試看.  今天的回家作業:ㄢㄣㄤㄥㄦ.

螢火蟲, ㄥ&ㄡ

In class
today, I let kids colouring dinosaurs,
kong3long3,  which matched
one of  the subjects today
.  And we spent a lot
more time on learning fireflies,
ying2huo3chong2, by doing a colouring about
fireflies, learning the song and watching some related film clips I attached
below, if you like to play them for your child as a review of today’s lesson.

We also made
a triangle flag,
三角旗, by using some different sizes of
felt circles and buttons, and a chopstick. Most kids already forgot how to say
chopsticks in Chinese which we learnt in Term2! Again this just proved the importance
of reviewing the old information.  I shall
put more efforts on this part in future.

I introduced
5 pictures with their Chinese characters & bopomo together in the ppt, and
later let every kid have a go on the PC game regarding the same vocabularies, followed
up with a paper work to check out if they understood everything.  Kids were generally fond of the pc game, and
were excited about it.  But when doing
the paper work, some could not quite get it. 
I wonder if they are still too young to be familiar with the worksheet.

I learnt to
create the pc game from my first daughter last night. She suggested me to
design something that attracts kids to play and learn.  The main attraction of the game is for kids
try to make the connection with the sound and the bopomo.  I promised them I will send the game to their
Mums/Dads, so they could have another go at home.

從昨晚雨就下個不停,怕大塞車, 我特地提早去學校附近吃午餐!就在Bridge Rd , 台灣人開的台灣小吃銘楷爸爸分享的news!  這也是促進我們提早出發的原因.. 事實證明我們早到學校是.明智的, 因為傍晚回家時蠻塞的, 因為今天下午有球賽!!  但雨停了, 還好.

三個小時我們做了不少東西.
今天我們主要是介紹注音符號的ㄥ和ㄡ, 和相關拼音. 我挑幾個跟我們日常相關或動物玩偶, 小朋友容易內化的物件來做生字引導. 盼慢慢地可把小朋友的字彙累積起來. (這時,又開始希望可每天跟這些小朋友見面,複習他們的中文多好.. 我其實是個急性子!)

除了新知, 主要還是溫故. 不斷複習前面學過的東西. 加深印象. 畢竟一週只有3小時, 小朋友學的快,但忘的也快, 若爸媽在家沒有稍微複習一下, 其實每一個星期六對某些孩子幾乎都是一個新起點. 大女兒昨晚分享了她在學校數學課學的遊戲設計, 她給了我這個idea設計了電腦遊戲讓小朋友可在家複習課堂上學的生字. 我們也在課堂上玩過一輪, 希望對每個孩子的學習都有幫助.

我們做用筷子和大大小小圓形的和扣子做成三角旗的圖案. , 學了螢火蟲” . 相關歌謠和影音和畫畫恐龍 唱歌..

Class11/8, 方形, 三角形, 和王維/雜詩

Mums &
Dads, please praise your little one/s for the hard work they’ve done last Sat
afternoon in Chinese school. I had given them a few “extras” to do, and they
completed all the tasks.  I was very pleased
with them.

 It was about six months since we met for
learning Chinese together, I strongly felt the children are ready to move on
for serious work.  This term I started
introducing children Pin-Yin, the sounds of putting 2 or 3 alphabets together.  This would hopefully help children to be familiar
with PinYin, and prepare them for next year of their further pin-yin studies.

We learned
about squares and triangles, long and short, and a new poem of Wang W.ei, Tang Dynasty.

Sorry my review came so late this week.         

我就知道如果星期六晚上不馬上接著做日誌, 我就會拖…... 不好意思, 上星期六晚上有飯局. 回家甚晚.  星期日忙孩子… …. 所以就拖到現在. 
請見諒.

上週六小朋友們忙碌得很, 小朋友可能稍微感受到多一些些壓力. 美勞中帶入方形和三角形, 也再次用折紙加強概念, 不知道小朋友有沒有問了爸媽找出幾個三角形(在折紙上面)? 也用撕紙來複習長和短. 也介紹了新詩, 王維的雜詩, 君自故鄉來…..寒梅著花未?

我發現銘楷很會照顧人, 美勞時,他很主動地幫忙坐他兩旁的同學, 小小年紀,真的很棒.

從這學期我開始介紹拼音, 二拼和三拼都會有. 多多少少給小朋友拼音的概念, 也為明年的功課鋪點底子. 中文底子很薄的Milla
很快就抓住方法,可能是她年齡較長,夠成熟 ,領悟力就相對高了些 .但小朋友若有認真聽課, 應該也是可以吸收起來.  在做評量時, 最小最安靜的文財令我驚訝, 當大家還在想辦法問清楚怎麼做, 他靜靜地把答案排好在紙上, (全答對ㄛ!) 等著他的turn 來用膠水!!

每個孩子都不同, 所以進度一定會有長短. 如果您的孩子慢了些, 請不要太心急, 適度的鼓勵和讚美是很受用的. 當他們準備好了, 他們亦將到達終點.  我們堅持,一起加油!

 

慶祝88節/mini Olympic

Happy 88 Day!” to all the Dads!!  We celebrated Father’s Day in advance at
school this afternoon.  In Taiwan our Father’s
day is set on the 8th of August, taking the homophonic sound of 8 8 sounds
like ba ba/
爸爸 that’s exactly meant Daddy.  The faculty only decided the theme late last
Saturday after school, it had to be the mini Olympic to fit the latest trend!  

Time was tight
before the fun started!  That meant we
got to finish making all the decorations and the Father’s day cards, fitted in
my teaching plans somewhere in 90 mins. 
Well, we did a lot of it, and had a bit of fun too.  The children were a little timid but excited when
we walked in to the hall meeting their Mums & Dads.  I hope all parent/s had a fun time with your
little one/s this afternoon.   

今天學校提前慶祝88!  上週六下課後,老師們開會決定以mini 
Olympic
型態 來做親子活動,讓孩子們與爸爸同歡. 
 
這實在是沒有比這更應景,更適合爸爸節了!!  

今天下午前半段,可能幾乎每班老師都忙著小朋友趕著完成給爸爸的卡片, 或要出場的旗子,或頭飾我們班也不例外!! 只是我把美勞的顏色縮小至Olympic colour, ,,,,绿.

 托爸爸的福, 下午我們很早就到了學校, 女兒又喜歡幫我忙, 我讓她們把顏色挑好的小氣球先吹起來. 滿桌子的氣球,...绿, 就差了黑色! (實在是買不到! ) 不過小朋友們並不挑剔, 一看到氣球, 眼睛立刻閃出一道光!  把小氣球套上橡皮筋, 小朋友們可挑選自己喜歡的顏色掛在手腕上. 
我們又用pipe cleaners和氣球做頭飾.  今天下午可忙的!

時間很趕, 我讓孩子們用很有限的資源做了三角旗. 以黑色為底色, 黏貼上藍...绿tissue paper.  再來,來把這些小旗子黏到我準備好的大旗子(很遺憾,是桃紅色的,^^) 本來去學校的路上還在遺憾沒找多一些花俏的小東西給小朋友們黏貼, 這時想起來還好我沒丟太多東西出去, 不然一定做不完!

我們坐下來圍成一個圓圈, 讀了一本繪本, My Dad is brilliant by Nick Butterworth. Grade1 Milla幫我讀英文原文, 我用中文把故事再講解一次.. (真奇妙但也是新的經驗!) 
銘楷告訴我他有讀過這本書. 
每位孩子都樂意分享他們爸爸拿手的事! 宇澤說爸爸擅長打呼, 和煮bacon & eggs. 麗燕的爸爸也是會做 bacon & eggs. 美娥也幫爸爸做蛋糕.  銘楷說 Daddy is good at riding bikes.  Milla’s daddy is good at everything, she said.  ..  , 教唱了兩首新歌, 頭肩膀膝腳趾 朋友歌. 前一首和英文head shoulders knees & toes 旋侓一樣, 孩子們很容易就朗朗上口,再加上動作, 小朋友很快就學會了.  朋友歌就有點兒挑戰性, 但歌詞的重複性高, 所以也不難學, 我畫蛇添足地加了動作,孩子們似乎還挺開心唱的, 我想下一堂課再複習複習就更容易了.   愛雯因為去練中國舞, 所以這部分她就沒參與到.

把我們合做的旗子套上旗杆 (家裡找到一根長棍子來應急!)  3點左右,雙手套上小氣球, 戴上我們手做的頭飾, 手牽手, 嘴裡哼著歌, 我們入場去和爸爸/媽媽們同歡了! 希望大家有個開心的下午.

Class28/7

At the end
of the day, I was on the floor, exhausted! I have to say partly it’s my own
fault getting up at 6am to watch the Opening Ceremony of Olympic Games with
family this morning.  Really didn’t want
to miss out the spectacular big event. 

 Kids were always much the same, energetic!  

No Kahlil
and William today, but we had 2 new friends joined us at the 1st hour
and decided to join us officially next week. 
With almost full attendance this afternoon, kids were all happy to see
some old friends.  They became very
chatty, then they were carried away in the chit chatting & laughter while
doing their art work.   It was great kids enjoying each other’s
company.  However with English as their
main language, the class was driven away in a different direction, or should I
say, that was their original little world.   And yet, I really could not stop them from
talking “English”, because this was the only language they could communicate.  I reminded myself to use Chinese if I could,
and I encouraged them to use “Chinese a”, and praised them all the time.  I did all I could to keep them a great
interest in learning Chinese!

Today, we
continued to learn the poem – “Jing Ye Si” by Li Bai of Tang Dynasty.   We recited the poem quite a few times, and
tried to get kids into the habit of using their index fingers to point out each
words they read along.  I had printed out
the poem with PinYin in line with the Chinese characters for Mums & Dads’
use.  Please use it to review the poem
with your children.  A short clip of the
poem would be also embedded for your guide following.

The very
hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle, was one of the best & the most popular picture
book for young children.  Hence I used it’s
setting of this book to teach kids colour, food,big/small, …  Today kids got a name of fruits/sweets from
the book, instead of their own name  I
called them whatever fruit they were!  This
was first time kids didn’t quite get it, yet, I’m sure they will enjoy it more
next time. This was to reinforce kids to remember of those fruits names and to
use the words when they need to talk to their mates.

We reviewed
big/small, circle, and introduce long/short by tearing a piece of paper into a
long strip.  The first time most kids had
troubles to tear the paper in the right way, but into a Jellyfish-like strips.    Lester
was almost in tears, poor baby.  That was
because they couldn’t wait to try and ignored my instruction.  I let them taste the feeling of failure.  Without discouraging them, I sat them down
again, and showed them how to do it. 
Some got it straight away, some didn’t. 
Never mind, we did it again.  At
the end, I think everyone got the right idea.

Another main
part of today’s learning was  
,, in the bopomofo, using a combination of games & songs.  I hope kids had some fun today.

圓形,大/小(毛毛蟲), 靜夜思

今天是第三學期的第一堂課, 天氣好極了!! 共有7位小朋友出席.

大半年過去,雖然每個禮拜只見一次面,小朋友都已相當熟悉彼此,
小孩的年齡雖很不一致,但成熟度算接近, 都已上幼稚園和小學預備班,
非常熟悉上課的形態和規侓,因此應該會較容易達成更理想的教學目標.

除了基本課程,ㄅㄆㄇ,和一般生活相關教學 , 下半年我把讀經也納入我們的3小時的一部分.
在台灣,讀經已經相當普遍和盛行, 13歲以前的孩子更是黃金時期,對大腦的開發極有益!
!
我們班孩子因為都是英文為母語的家庭, 為了不給予孩子太大的挫折感,我挑選了一些較短的唐詩/五言絕句開始,
屆時再適時導入三字經. 我也考慮讀弟子規, 但網路上非常容易得到資訊.也許家長可以自行在家陪孩子讀經?!

今天我們讀了李白的靜夜思. 真的很難呢, 要這麼小的孩子用手指一字一字跟著讀,
且對他們而言都是方塊字! 天書ㄚ!! 難怪他們要分心!
不過我真的不想放棄, 因為我退一步,孩子就會前進一步.
所以無聊也罷, Louis 幫忙,我們終於在小朋友崩潰之前了指導每一位孩子讀經的概念!且千萬不要小看孩子,
有些孩子領悟力很高, 有樣學樣, 馬上就進入狀況!
我真的很開心, 這似乎是個好的開始!

/小和圓形也是今天教學重點,
配合顏色的覆習,我採用每個小朋友都非常熟悉的繪本好餓好餓的毛毛蟲為主題延伸出大/小毛毛蟲,葉子和蝴蝶,致於美勞呢,每個孩子都帶回一條毛毛蟲變魔術給爸媽看!
又藉著不同顏色的氣球我們覆習了顏色和(/)圓形,
也玩了氣球蹲的遊戲! 介紹了圓形的大大小小杯碗盒盤,和錢幣,
再讓小朋友描下大小圓形(錢幣之外).. 品嚐圓形的甜甜圈(每位小孩約2小口而已).

我們覆習ㄅㄆㄇ注音符號和歌曲, 也畫了我的爸爸”..
但時間真的不夠用, 來不及更多的遊戲就要回家了. 這時真的很希望每天可以跟小朋友見面,做遊戲,讀故事,….學中文

馮宇進來時躲在媽媽的背後, 笑咪咪的. 是小皮蛋一個,
很有主見, 好奇心很強像隻貓咪!

宇澤把捲捲的頭髮剪了,脫了稚氣.還是可愛!
今天問了我好多遍,”妳看到我的新鞋子嗎?” “^^有ㄚ,銀色的,很帥耶!^^”

今天銘楷台灣來的ㄚ嬤和璇璇妹妹一起陪著過來, 看他眉頭深鎖,小五又沒來,”糟了!我想
.
結果不知不覺他換上笑臉和同學交談, 且非常的有禮貌,
用中文答謝, 上課很專心,也玩的很開心!(爸爸不用皺眉頭了!)

美娥今天在學跳新疆舞和上課之間選擇了留下來和同學一塊.. 我沒有強迫她去的原因是我想她留下來班上多一個小時,
因美娥容易分心,我想跟她多一點時間在一起..   她的毛毛蟲畫的最漂亮!

愛雯總是乖巧地把分配的功課做好畫完, 第三堂課去了大堂學新疆舞..
很期待ㄚ!

遲到的麗燕和文財笑咪咪進來, 好像彩虹一道, 增添了教室的愉快.
乖巧的兩姐弟馬上找椅子坐下來著手畫畫, 也不吵鬧. 姐姐學習很進入狀況,
但弟弟畢竟年紀小了些, 容易被其他小朋友的小動作吸引.

今天的回家作業是大和小.

端午節-粽子/糖果粽/龍舟

On the last day of the Term 2, we celebrated the Dragon Boat
Day at school this afternoon by making zong- zi/
粽子
(Glutinous Rice Dumplings) under the Grandma Wu’s instructions.  She gave a professional step by step demonstration
to all the students and the parents.  Her
skills and experience made making zong-zi seem easy and kept her audience busy.
 
With the little ones, we only watched
the demo, and had the privilege to taste the pre-cooked zong-zi with our
parents! What fun!!

Before we made our way to the hall for the zong-zi tasting,
we had a bit of fun on making “candy zong-zi” in our own room.  We used the Newspaper and cellophane to be the
pretend bamboo leaves, and all sorts of lollies to be the fillings.  I invited parents joining us to have fun with
their children as well lending a helping hand to the kids since it could be
tricky & fiddly for those little hands to tie up zong-zi with strings.  Everyone had made one candy zong-zi to take
home.  Thanks to my teacher friend Joanne
shared this CUTE idea with me!  I hope my
little friends made the connection when they saw Grandma Wu showing them how to
make the REAL zong-zi after!

We were busy colouring Long-zhou /龍舟(dragon
boat)  for making the head piece to wear  for the Dragon Boat Racing on the 2
nd
half of the 2
nd session.  Somehow
all the children were carried away and got into a play mode.  Some children became really chatty. They
talked and played, laughed then shout while the rest of class were doing their
work quietly!  Finally I pulled my face
down, and Jo-Jo asked me, you are angry aren’t you?  And Milla said, let’s make Sarah happy!   (Ha! I must’ve looked grumpy!)  It was really unusual that class in such
chaos, I wondered if kids could sense the festival mood in the air from the
hall!

All the children finally had their head piece assembled; we
headed down to the hall for the racing game. 
With Ms Anies’s class, the kids were in 2 lines, and they just needed to
run their way around the chair in front of them… I think all kids had a ball.  Thanks very much to Ms Anies invited our
class to join them for this fun activity.

In our 1st session, we reviewed our bopomo, and
Chinese numbers 1~10 with singing, reciting and doing some worksheets.  Kids could recite 1~10 in Chinese, but it was
a challenge to mach the Chinese Characters. 
We shall continue to practise and improve it next Term.  With such tight schedule today, I had to
apologize to Justin & Ethan that we didn’t have time for the
Show&Tell.  I knew they both had
brought along some fantastic stuff to share with everyone!

 A big thank you to
Cora, Lester & Leanne’s Mummy, made a delicious sponge cake to share with class.  With the help from Catherine, Kahlil’s Mummy,
children enjoyed the cake in the garden at the 1
st recess.  I loved kids’ innocent reaction when they saw
the cake.  Instantly they asked around,
whose birthday is it?!  We had fun sing happy
birthday song, and then tried the Chinese version too.  While these were all happening in the recess
time, we resumed to our 2
nd session upstairs, kids pulled out their
snacks and told me, we haven’t had our snack time yet!! 

One custom of the Dragon Boat Festival is, trying to make
the hard-boiled egg to stand up on one end at NOON.  If it succeeds it would bring you luck!!  I prepared 10 hard-boiled eggs for our
children to try their luck too, although we missed the right time!  Milla, Jo-Jo and Leanne were the lucky girls
today!!  Some kids actually wanted to eat
the eggs rather than trying to stand the eggs up!!

This was the last class of the Term 2.  I wish everyone a great break!  See you all on July 21!!

各位親愛的家長, 今天大家都包了粽子,
也應該都托了我們小朋友的福,當場有機會品嚐到吳媽媽的經湛手藝!機會真的一年只有一次哪!
我們班也都包了糖果粽,我想吃糖果的控制權就交給爸媽了,但重點是希望小朋友粽子對粽子有點概念.
如果您的小朋友今年是第一次接觸到粽子, 不懂或不愛吃也沒關係.來年他們就知道更多端午節的相關習俗!去年我女兒不太吃粽子,
今年吃的開心極了!

我們小朋友今天畫了3 艘龍舟!!(我也覺得有點多!
這是我的錯,因為我並沒搞清楚Anies老師的意思, 以為兩艘都要畫
Anyway,
小朋友可能會一輩子忘不了^^) 其中1艘是立體的,2艘是為了賽龍舟的頭飾,但有可能幾為小朋友來不及黏上第2,
就出發了.

我們覆習了ㄅㄆㄇ還有中文書寫的一二三. 讓小朋友做小老師,拿指揮棒唱ㄅㄆㄇ,
每個小朋友都很喜歡! 一到十, 十到一反覆念, 但認字形仍有大困難.下學期將按步練習書寫認字.因
時間緊湊,有一些該覆習的也沒時間做. 這我都會放在下學期的第一堂課做.

端午節正午要立蛋. 雖然時間不對,但我還是煮了熟蛋讓小朋友試著立蛋.,果真有3個小女生成功..
小男生把玩著蛋, 可能較沒耐心, 反而問我可不可吃蛋!今天小朋友都很high,(不知道為什麼哩?)
所以秩序真的很差, 整個教室總是亂哄哄的!  謝謝麗燕和文財的媽媽為班上做了個蛋糕, 小朋友非常開心!!只可惜我沒吃到

時間真的過的好快,2學期今天結束了.希望大家有個愉快的假期.  721日見嘍!!


龍, 皇帝的玩具箱, Lego house 和小熊

We had 3 little friends absent this afternoon, but
it seemed a lot quieter somehow.  Especially with the late arrival of some
children, we had to start a bit later than usual. It would be nice if everyone
could get to school on time which I know it might be a bit hard as lots of us
traveling a long way to get to school. The trafic could be bad from time to time!

The school is going to celebrate the Dragon
Boat Day Festival next Sat by making

Zi.  I thought I better making sure my
all kids know about “Dragon” since we had quite a few new kids in class that
had missed out the topic in Term 1.  This
was also to prepare next week’s Dragon Boat Festival teaching plan, and another
good reason to learn as it is the Year of Dragon. 

I started class with the Dragon craft, and some kids had done it at the start of the Year.  I chose it just out of my own interest to
find out how kids had matured in last few months, and how it might be shown in
their artwork.   It was a gorgeous dragon
to make but it was such a tedious job. Tracing their hands, colouring them,
cutting the patterns out, paste them together to form a dragon.  Children enjoyed colouring their own hands,
making different patterns as they were chatting along with their mates.  And all Dragon were very different!!  However Jo-Jo, Kahlil and Philianan the 3
little friends absent today were all part of our new crew! 

As part of the plan, we reviewed the Dragon/
by my Taiwanese 2012 Dragon stamps booklet that has got a 3D dragon on one page.
The Dragon did impress all the kids, and they all touched it for good-luck! I
made up the later part, but all the children touched the dragon with excitement
and a big smile.  Also I showed them a
Chinese calendar that’s full of lovely of dragon images on the different
objects from all the different dynasties. 
We admired the pictures together and talked about it.  I am sure kids know the difference about
DINOSAUR/
恐龍(kong3
long2) and DRAGON/
(long2)now.  As they both are long2/ in
Chinese. 

I was going to show kids the videos about the
story of “the Dragon Boat Day”, but the broadband didn’t work.  ^^..  
So I played part of the DVD – The Emperor’s Treasure Chests, that I
purchased from the Palace Museum in Taipei early this Year.  It’s such an interesting and detailed
introduction of the Emperor Qian Long’s mini toy boxes, I chose English sound
track instead of Chinese simply just for kids’ pleasure only.  Most kids sat still in front of the pc, but a
couple of them found it hard to concentrate, maybe because it wasn’t animation?

We practised the 1~10 in Chinese today before
they started the Joint-the-Dots. 
Children should have a rough idea about the square Chinese letters of
those ten numbers, and know how to recite them. 
Also I printed their Chinese names out and asked them to draw a picture
of themselves next to their names.  It
was so personal & unique! I like it.

I had them to build a Lego house of their own
when they finish their own portrait. Eventually everyone joined the group and
making their own houses.  We then had the
Show&Tell time together as well showing the Lego houses built by our little
designers!  Before I called it a day, I
read a picture book by Anthony Browne called Bear Goes to Town, and kids just
loved it!

Milla, 蜜菈
is the Chinese name I give her, they both sound very similar.  Milla is such a delight to have in class.  She surprised me with the colours she learned
from weeks before, not many of them but she remembered them all!  She showed great interests in learning Chinese.  She is so friendly with everyone.  She loves PINK!

美娥跟同學的互動很溫和,
專心的时後很專心,非常喜歡寫字畫畫,她的畫都很有想法;但在團體活動中也容易分心,常拿起身邊可以拿到的東西玩,
或開始和同學聊天.
是個很有主見的一個孩子.

麗燕個性較穩重,
也很大而化之,
跟大家都好相處.  當她進來坐到蜜菈旁邊時,兩個女孩就和氣地交談起來,感覺很棒.
也很專心聽課,
有大姐風範.

文財很溫馴,
不太說話,  就用大眼睛聽和說和看.
除非我點他回答,
不然幾乎一聲都不吭.
但他卻無聲的在進步   今天帶了黃色的ben10
超人來show&tell,
當大家齊聲跟他說謝謝的时後,
他露出了緬腆的微笑.

小五今天很棒,
雖然上課前跌了一跤傷了小指,可並不影響上課情緒.3個小時都笑咪咪的,
除了銘楷離開去party時有些不捨,但很快就忘了離別的惆悵.
沒有銘楷相伴,
似乎也不影響上課的專心度.

銘楷真是演技派的!開場時,手中拿著嘔吐袋臉色蒼白,害我都擔心起來.
爸爸告訴我他已經嘔吐袋拿了兩個星期了!會出其意,我告訴爸爸,我知道了!!
直到爸爸離開前銘楷都病厭厭的,不願意活動.
爸爸一離開,我把他左手中的嘔吐袋拿下來,擺在他桌前左上方,又把他右手中的超人玩具放在嘔吐袋旁邊,告訴他:我在這裡,我會照顧你,現在你先畫畫吧!
我拉起他的手來描起他的手形..
不一會兒他就談笑風生起來!
根本就忘了嘔吐袋的存在…^^

宇澤今天也是開心果一個!
天真中文夾雜著道地的英文,
太適合他可愛的混血臉孔!
太多的對另人宛爾的對話我卻只記得第一個,他用很多顏色塗滿他的手形,我稱讚他,好漂亮的彩虹顏色的手喔!
他喜孜孜地問我,妳也喜歡彩虹的手嗎?
 
但宇澤的注意力似乎不長,有時很快就分心了,給他一點時間再把他拉回來.
大家在做Lego

的時候,他也玩但沒做成房子.
當我跟大家說就要開始Show&Tell
!

這才肯動手!

馮宇一直都給我像個小大人的感覺.
時而童心未泯!
上課的時候超認真的,反應也很快,認真到皺著眉頭聽課!兒童畢竟是他的真正身分,
瘋起來的時候就原形畢露了!
可喜的是,
我的威嚴仍可把他壓下來..
是個講理的小孩.
話說今天他的書包落在家,所以沒點心可吃第一堂下課只聽他振振有詞跟身邊同學說,
你們要分享你們的餅乾給我,因為我媽媽把我的書包放在家了

地下的100層樓和ㄓㄔㄕㄖ

3 hours went fast this afternoon, I felt like I didn’t
quite actually give out enough to fill the children up before they say
adios.  Unfortunately I erased my
Teaching Plan at the start of the class by mistake, what a disaster!  However I got the map in mind, with the
materials on hand hopefully I didn’t think I lose it too much.  But the broadband went funny this arvo, that
disappointed kids a bit, and me too, as I couldn’t quite get the result I
wanted from it.  However kids did enjoy
every bits of it. Thanks again to Louis providing our class the wireless
broadband for the use.

We started with drawings as usual awaiting the rest of
class to show up; then it was the BoPoMo section when ready.  Reinforcing the 37 alphabets by reciting
them, plus singing the song together, kids were keen!  Again and again, girls then boys, then
altogether.. Some of them were quite good actually, thanks to Mummies or
Daddies home playing the video for the children; and they had present confidence
in this section.  If your child hasn’t
quite got it yet, please don’t rush him/her into it, they will catch up in time
when they are ready! 

Then went on to the Han-Zi animation films-A little
bird (which we only watched half of it, then the internet connection was no
good.) The internet came active again at the 1st recess; I played a
couple of short cartoons-Pororo that already translated into Mandarin which
kept children stayed in class engaged!

At one point I saw Melissa & Louis both sitting
behind the children, helping me out by hand drawing the alphabets for class. I
felt really awful, as if I was a slave driver.. :<   Yet we are so lucky to have parent helpers
like that.

We shared a picture book brought in by William, the
underground 100 story house.  It surely
was another fantastic story book by the Japanese writer,
岩井俊雄.  It’s the squeal of The 100 story house that
we had read last Sat.  Children were very
interested in the wonderful illustration on each page.  Pity there were 11 kids (plus me 12) sharing
1 picture book, it was hard to maintain kids at their best the whole time, and
the story seemed going on forever.  And
yet when the recess bell rang, some children insisted to finish the last 2 pages!
 And some were ready for their snacks.

After the story, I had the kids to design & draw
their own houses upon their own wishs. Most of them did, and a couple decided
to work on the Bopomo sheets.  We had a
circle time for the Show&Tell, and the rest also had the chances to share
the art works they had made in class.  They
also asked to bring their artwork home for showing Mum & Dad.

Ethan was not well today. This was very first time he
didn’t make it to the Chinese Class.  Lester and Leanne still needed a little more
time to recover from their cold.  :<

We had a new friend today, Nadia, a friend of Milla’s.  She tried her best to imitate the Bopomo pronunciation
and sing the song together with everyone, and the fact that she made the effort
of saying it, I was very impressed!  It’s
a good start for a little girl learning a foreign language.

Milla was fantastic today.  She really tried to say her Mandarin, and
full of enthusiasm.  She did really well
when singing the Bopomo song, and got the 37 orders correctly on the chart.  I think the maturity helps her a lot.  She is ready for challenge.

Jo-Jo was doing great too. She was always pleasant and
so feminine, and knowing what she wanted to do. 
She enjoyed working on the Bopomo sheets, and did a great job at
Show&Tell with the Barbie doll she brought in along.

Kahlil was a little quiet at the start, but soon he was
fully woken up from his afternoon sleep,… 
until the 3rd hour he started to show a little unsettled.  When coloured his airplane, he was the only one
in class did both sides, and did it symmetrically!  He also did well at the Bopomo section! Well
done.

Justin was a bit lost without Ethan’s presence, yet he
quickly regained her confidence with Kahlil’s company in class.  He was a little shy as usual, but he made sure
you know he needs your attention. He also had the habit to put things into his
mouth to chew.  He was fully engaged with
the activity when designing his
Underground Party
.  Great job.

Angus was full of fun. 
He was easily distracted when doing group work, but he could do a great
job on his own if he wanted to. 
宇澤想像力很豐富,雖然不怎麼愛寫愛畫,今天的房子自由設計做得很棒, 很有宇澤的風格!!
後來寫字時, 他跟助教老師說幫他一起寫….

美娥很乖巧,不會大聲說話,但也很有主見, 今天ㄅㄆㄇ讀得很好. 畫畫寫字都很用心..平常group
work
時容易分心,但今天不錯. 跟姐姐感情好,每堂休息時間都要去找姐姐, 姐姐也很懂事, 上課了就把妹妹帶回來!

愛雯下午很不一樣, 不停咬東西,髮夾,筆套,衣服上的帶子..
是情緒不安?爸爸來接她時才知道她不舒服.  她的注音符號學得不錯. 一般也都很踴躍發言, 今天卻話不太多. 故事讀完後面的房子設計她卻不太有想法, 也許真的累了.

今天很謝謝馮宇的故事書,更難得的是,我請他不要透露故事內容,所以其他小朋友有機會去發現書中所有的驚奇! 對一個4歲的小男孩是件不容易的事,但他真的做到了, 展現成熟的一面!他設計的房子全程secrecy,用手遮住不讓人看,哈哈最後下課時, 我一把被一位家長抓住, 沒機會問他到底他的主題是什麼

因為有幾位家長不懂中文, 只好請我們2種語言都能懂的家長包涵一下用英文做我的教學日記, 他們肯定也很想知道他們孩子在課堂上學了些什麼. 英文也是我的第2 語言, 所以不足的地方請多指教.  下午珉妃的媽媽來告訴我, 珉妃跟媽媽說想快快長大好到我的班級來上課….
聽了好窩心! 小珉妃真的是個人見人愛的機伶娃娃! 說起話來卻像小大人,超級可愛..
最後把家當搬回車上時遇到玉尹和爸爸,姐姐們朝他們的車走去, 小小玉尹在耍寶^^
跟以往文靜形象大不同! 哈哈, 好可愛真的!
