★小朋友你知道除夕夜吃過年夜飯後，為什麼會有守歲和壓歲錢的習俗由來嗎？★

守歲和壓歲錢的由來

　　傳說古代有一個叫「祟」的小妖，黑身白手，他每年除夕夜裡出來，專門摸熟睡的小孩子的腦門。小孩被摸過後就會發高燒、說夢話，退燒後就會變成痴呆瘋癲的傻子了。大人們怕祟來傷害孩子，常常在除夕整夜亮燈不睡，這也叫做「守祟」。

　　有一戶姓管的人家，夫妻老年得子，十分珍愛。在這年三十晚上，為了防止祟來侵擾，這對老夫妻不睡覺，一直逗著孩子玩，他們用紅紙包了幾枚銅錢，包了拆，拆了包。但隨著夜漸漸深了，小孩子受不了，先睡著了。這對老夫妻便把包好的幾枚銅錢放在他的枕邊。老夫妻年歲大，也熬不住，一看都已是四更天了，想來那祟該不會來傷害他們的孩子了吧！可他們剛一睡著，一陣陰風吹過，黑矮的小妖就進了屋，就在他要用手摸孩子頭的時候，突然孩子枕邊發出一道金光，祟尖叫著逃跑了。

　　很快，這件事就傳揚開來，大家紛紛效仿，在大年除夕夜裡用紅紙包上錢給孩子，祟就不敢再來侵擾了。因而人們把這種錢叫「壓祟錢」，「祟」與「歲」發音相同，日久天長，就被稱為「壓歲錢」了。

在《清嘉錄》卷十二上記載：「 長者貽小兒以朱繩綴百錢，謂之『壓歲錢』表示古時候在年節時，會使用紅線將百枚銅錢串起，發給小孩，祝福對方長命百歲。銅錢和紅線的使用當然不符合時代需求，後來逐漸以紙幣和紅包袋取代，也就是現今大家熟知的紅包(Lucky Money)。

貔貅：pí xiū（拼音讀作「皮休」）古書上說的一種兇猛的瑞獸。貔貅是以財為食的，納食四方之財。中國傳統是有「貔貅」的習俗，和龍獅一樣，有將這地方的邪氣趕走、帶來歡樂及好運的作用。

貔貅，又名天祿、闢邪、百解，共四個名字，是中國古代神話傳說中的一種神獸，龍頭、馬身、麟腳，形似獅子，毛色灰白，會飛。貔貅兇猛威武，它在天上負責巡視 工作，阻止妖魔鬼怪、瘟疫疾病擾亂天庭。古時候人們也常用貔貅來作為軍隊的稱呼。據說貔貅是龍王的八太子，它的主食竟然是金銀珠寶，自然渾身寶氣，它有嘴 無肛門，能吞萬物而從不洩，可招財聚寶，只進不出，神通特異。

比 depicts two men standing together, they compare with each other.

　The Story of Chinese Character :青

青 depicts a well surrounded by grass, well has water , so the grass around it is always green.
In the past, 青 was used to represent the colour of green and blue, but such two meanings had been replaced by 綠 and 藍, now 青 mainly means the colour of light green.
On the other hand, when a tree is densely covered by green leaves, it looks dark, so 青 is also used to describe something in dark colour, like hair and eyes.

 漢字的故事 : 自

「自」字本是人類鼻子的象形，但人自我介紹時總會指指自己鼻子，故「自」字漸漸有「自己」的意思，並衍生出「獨立」的意思。至於原來的「鼻子」的意思，則由「鼻」字取代。

Long time ago, 自 was the picture of a human nose, however, people always like to point at their nose when they introduce themselves, so 自 gradually means 'the self', then derives the meaning of 'independence'. The original meaning of 'nose' was replaced by 鼻.

 

漢字的故事 : 己　The Story of Chinese Character :己

己 depicts a twisted stem of a tree, it looks like a curling human body, he holds his body tightly in order to protect himself, but the meaning of twist or curling is then replaced by 卷, and now 己 solely means oneself. On the other hand, when a tree is getting old, its stem twists, 己 is used to describe the sixth stage of the plant's growth, thus becomes the sixth of TianGan.
On the other hand, the curl tree trunk represents the oldness of the tree, while an old tree has gone through so many things, it is experienced and can be seen as a record of the past days. Therefore, 己 also has the meaning of record or remembering something, but such meaning has been replaced by 記 and 紀.
