孫悟空一離開東海, As soon as (The moment Sun Wukong left the East Sea.

龍王就急忙跑到天上找玉皇大帝，

the Dragon King of the East China Sea, he hurried to the sky to find the Jade Emperor.

他告孙悟空抢走了他的金箍棒。

He accused Sun Wukong of forcibly taking the golden Rod.

玉皇大帝想把孫悟空關在天上，

The Jade Emperor wanted to lock Sun Wukong in the sky,

就骗他来天上當齊天大聖，

so he tricked him by giving him the title “The Greatest Sage” to heaven.

要他看管潘桃园，孫悟空满心欢喜。

And letting him watch the orchard!  Sun Wukong was full of joy.

有一天，孫悟空变得很小，躺在树枝上休息。

One day, Sun Wukong turned into a very small monkey and rested on a tree branch.

七位仙女來摘桃子，说是王母娘娘要請重要的人物吃飯。

Seven fairies came to the orchard to pick peaches for the Queen Mother’s banquet for all the important gods.

孫悟空問：我是齊天大聖，怎麼沒請我。

Sun Wukong demanded , “I am The Greatest Sage and why was I not invited?

仙女们笑道：The fairies sneered at him.

什麼齊天大聖？你只是看管果園的猴子！

What is The Greatest Sage? You are just the monkey who watches the orchard!

孫悟空發現玉皇大帝騙他，

Sun Wukong found out that the Jade Emperor tricked him.

王母娘娘看不起他。

and the Queen Mother looked down on him.(thought nothing of him.

他很生氣，就飛到請客的地方，

He became so angry that he rode a cloud straight to the banquet,

大吵大鬧，到處亂打。Made a big scene and knocked everything about with his rod.

他又拔了根毛，用力一吹，變成許多瞌睡蟲，

He pulled out a hair from his body, blew on it, and turned it into many sleepy bugs.

等大家都睡著了，他便跳上桌子大吃大喝。

After everyone fell fast asleep, he jumped onto the table and helped himself to all the food and wine.

玉皇大帝叫二郎神去抓他，

The Jade Emperor commanded the god Erlang Shen to capture Wukong.

孫悟空急忙變成小鳥飛走，

Sun Wukong hurriedly turned into a bird and flew away.

二郎神連忙變成老鹰去抓小鳥。

Erlang Shen quickly turned into an hawk to chase after the bird.

孫悟空又急忙變成一座土地廟，

Sun Wukong Then he hurriedly turned into an earth temple,

二郎神追過去一把抓住孫悟空的尾巴，

把它丢進火爐裡。

God Erlang chased after him, grabbed Sun Wukong’s tail and threw him into a furnace.

孫悟空被燒了四十九天，他不但没燒死，

反而燒成了火眼金睛。

Sun Wukong was burned for 49 days. Not only did he not burn to death, but also got penetrating vision.

現在孫悟空本事更大了。

Now Sun Wukong is more powerful.

他覺得自己可以當皇帝了，

he thought he could be the emperor,

就大聲叫道：玉皇老兒你會骗人，

so he shouted: Jade Emperor, You lied to me, you old fool.

還當什麼皇帝？快把王位讓給我。

What are you doing as an emperor? Give me the throne quickly.

正好如來佛經過，他伸開手掌说：

Just as Tathagata Buddha passed by, he stretched out his palm and said,

你跳上來！如果有本本事翻出我的手掌，才能當天上的皇帝。

 

“Jump up, if you can jump out of my palm, then you can be the emperor of the heavens.

孫悟空跳上手掌，架起筋斗雲，向很遠的地方飛去。

Sun Wukong jumped into the palm and rode on  a somersault cloud and flew towards the far horizon.

當他看見前面五根大柱子，就認為是天邊了。

When he saw five huge pillars in front of him, he thought it must be the end of the universe.

他拔下一根毛當筆，

He pulled out a hair and used it as a pen.

他在柱子上寫到齊天大聖到此一遊八個大字，

On one of the pillar he wrote. the Greatest Sage was here to visit.

然後才飛回去。

and then flew back.

當他回到手掌心，

When he returned back to the palm of the buddha.

忽然看見那八個大字在如來佛的中指上，

he suddenly discovered that on the middle finger of Tathagata Buddha.

他嚇壞了！他急忙想逃走。

He was frightened. He hurriedly wanted to escape.

如來佛把手一翻，變成了金木水火土五行山，

Buddha turned into his palm over.  His hand turned into the so-called the Five Elements Mountain with the elements of gold, wood, water, fire, earth,

把孫悟空壓住。哎，Sun Wukong was confined under the mountain.

要再等五百年，才會有人把它救出來。

Too bad, now he had to wait another five hundred years before someone came along to rescue him.
