It’s Okay

It’s Okay, it’s Okay, don’t be too upset, and please don’t cry

It’s Okay, it doesn’t matter, people will make mistakes, and learning from the mistake is what matters.

I truly say it’s okay! Throw away the large stones that weigh your chest down and prevent you from breathing.

I said okay! Forgot all the unpleasant things.

People all have careless moments, the feeling of making a mistake is unpleasant.

Look at it from a different angle; treat others like you want to be treated

If you worry about everything then you will not be happy.

So I say, okay, okay,

Embrace other people and look people in the eye

It’s okay, it’s okay, learning to forgive will make you closer to your friends. Continue reading

Happy Friends

Hey! Our happy friends, hand in hand and heart to heart
Moving forward together to create a better life
Hey! Our happy friends, we have (kind) benign hearts
We have the endurance of the camel and the courage of the lion.
We are fearless of hardship because of our faith in perseverance and courage to overcome difficulties.
We have a positive outlook on embracing our responsibility and have dreams that light our way. Continue reading

East meets west: Chinese your way (July 17th)

Day 9 students learned the four seasons and what season they were born in.  Practiced Chinese painting on   second piece of fabric and when they were ready began to paint the drawings onto the fabric bag.  Students were then asked to think of a Chinese word that they would like to write on the back or front of the bag.

East meets west: Chinese your way (July 14th)

Day 6 of teaching we started off with mounting the final Chinese paintings onto a piece of paper.  We then introduced the Chinese words for different body parts. (i.e. tou, bi zi, er duo, shou).  This knowledge was taken into practice as we prepared to make our Chinese puppets out of fabric and the Chinese yoghurt drink cups the students drank last week.  These puppets will then be used in different Chinese conversation scenarios.  As this was mainly a craft day students were able to listen to different Chinese songs while working. 7-14.17-14.2

East meets west: Chinese your way (July 11th)

July 11- For the fifth day of teaching we began with a brief review of greetings in Chinese.  We then made Mango Ice cream and drank a Chinese style yogurt drink.  After the clean up students finished their Chinese Horse Paintings and worked on writing their Chinese names on a Chinese Gourd.  We worked a little bit more with the song ‘Earth Child’  by having students read out the Chinese lyrics on their handout.  We wrapped up the lesson with a discussion on different ‘question words’ in Chinese as students gave their responses.  Its been a fun week teaching this group.
