How to Type Chinese on Your Chromebook
Want to type Chinese characters on your Chromebook? Follow these steps!

Step 1: Open Settings
Click the time in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
Then click the Settings ⚙️ icon.

Step 2: Add Chinese as an Input Language
In Settings:
1. Click Device.
2. Click Keyboard.
3. Find Input methods.
4. Click Add input methods.
5. Find and select Chinese (Simplified) – Pinyin.

Step 3: Switch to Chinese Pinyin
When you want to type Chinese:
Press: Ctrl + Space
This switches between English and Chinese input.
You can also click the language/input icon near the clock and choose Chinese – Pinyin.

Step 4: Start Typing Chinese
Now type the Pinyin for the Chinese word.
For example:
• Type nihao → 你好
• Type xuesheng → 学生
Use the number keys or click the correct Chinese character to choose the character you want.

Step 5: Try It!
Open a Google Doc and type:
你好！我是中文学生。

Now you can type Chinese on your Chromebook!
Remember
Pinyin → Choose the character → Keep typing!
If you accidentally switch back to English, press Ctrl + Space again. Continue reading
